Beer Survey Trips
13 members, including one first-timer, joined the minibus survey trip on Saturday 10th October, visiting the King Alfred and Victoria Inn at Alfreton, the Seven Stars, Moulders Arms and Queens Head at Riddings, the Crown at Somercotes and the Gate Inn at Swanwick.
The following beers were noted –
King Alfred – Sharps Doombar, Wychwood Hobgoblin, Castle Rock Black Gold and Harvest Pale, Blue Monkey 99 Red Baboons, Nottingham Rock Bitter
Victoria Inn – West Berkshire Brewing Co. Good Old Boy, Front Row Touch
Seven Stars – St Austell Tribute, Greene King Abbot Ale
Moulders Arms – Hydes Provenance Munchen, Burton Bridge Snapshot and Stairway to Heaven, Sharps Doombar
Queens Head – Firebrand Pacific Pale Ale (Cornwall)
Crown – Marstons Pedigree
Gate Inn – Castle Rock Harvest Pale, Caledonian Autumn Red, Sharps Doombar, Adnams Ghost Ship
The next free minibus survey trip, and the last one of the year, will be on Saturday 14th November and there are currently a few places available.
Anne Kennedy led 10 walkers on an Amber Ramble from Belper to Wirksworth on Saturday 3rd October, calling at the Bear Inn, Alderwasley, the Malt Shovel and the Black’s Head at Wirksworth and returning by bus to the Holly Bush at Makeney.
We are planning an afternoon pub crawl around Burton upon Trent, to be led by Chris, on Saturday 21st November. Meeting times and places will be circulated nearer the time.
The Beer Festival Volunteers’ Party will be held at the Strutt Club, Campbell St, Belper on Saturday 12th December – details to be confirmed nearer the time. Anne will also be circulating details of a pub crawl around Nottingham on Saturday 12th December.
