Social Secretary Report – September 2016

On Saturday 3rd September 13 members joined the pub walk around Burton on Trent. We met in the Weighbridge Arms (former Middle Earth Tavern which had been taken over by Wentwell Brewery the night before), walked to another new micropub, the Last Heretic where we stayed for a couple.  The next stop was the Coopers Arms which was unusually quiet for a Saturday afternoon but at least it meant we got a seat, then a walk out to the Burton Bridge Brewery Tap, the Bridge, back to the Fuggle and Nugget micropub on High Street and finished off at the Dog Inn.

The survey trip on Saturday 10th September had to be cancelled at the last minute as the driver had developed shingles and, despite his best efforts, Neil couldn’t find another driver to replace him.  I have booked an extra trip for Saturday 14th January to ensure we visit all the pubs we intended to before the annual cut-off date for inputting scores for the Good Beer Guide meeting in early February.  The next trip will be on Saturday 15th October.

Anne Kennedy has arranged an Amber Ramble for Sunday 25th September and details have been circulated.
