Social Secretary Report – May 2017

Nine members joined the survey trip on Friday 5th May – many thanks to Debbie Williams for organising it in my absence and collecting the beer scores.  The group visited The Handlebar micro pub in Alfreton, Moulders Arms, Greenhill Tavern and Red Lion in Riddings and the Gate Inn and Steampacket in Swanwick.

The following beers were scored –

The Handlebar – Landlocked Amarillo, Leatherbritches Lemongrass and Ginger, Urban Huntsman The Brigand, Lost Industry Murican Wheat

Moulders Arms – The Beer Studio Tasman Sauvin, Robinsons Trooper

Greenhill Tavern – Falstaff Greenhill Bitter, Marstons Bass

Red Lion – Thornbridge Brother Rabbit and Galaxia

The Gate – Timothy Taylor Golden Best, St Austell Tribute

Steampacket – Fullers Southern Star, Wells Bombardier Burning Gold, Titanic Chocolate and Vanilla Stout, Marstons Bass, Falstaff Curse of Omen

The next free minibus survey trip will be held on Friday 9th June.

There will be a pub walk / beer survey around Alfreton on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th May. We will meet at the Victoria Inn on Nottingham Road at 1pm.   The 9.1 and 9.3 Trent Barton buses will drop off near here as they go to Alfreton via Somercotes.  They leave Ripley Market Place at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour on Bank Holiday Monday.  We will finish up at the Handlebar or Miner’s Arms and buses for Ripley/Derby leave the bus station at 02 and 32 minutes past the hour until 5.32 then they are once an hour from 6.38 onwards.

Provisional dates for other pub walks – all meeting at 1pm – details to be announced –

Saturday 29th July- Chesterfield

Saturday 19th August – Derby

Bank Holiday Monday 28th August – Ripley (beer survey)

Saturday 16th September – Burton on Trent

The final message regarding socials will be forwarded to the Google Group this week then the Group will be closed.  All users have been notified well in advance and asked to send their email address to socials@ambervalley.camra.org.uk if they wish to be included in the circulation list for messages regarding socials in future.
