Social Secretary Report – January 2017

Social Secretary Report – January 2017

On Thursday 29th December, 16 members met up in Nottingham and spent the afternoon/evening visiting some of the City’s best real ale pubs.  We visited the Organ Grinder (Blue Monkey), John Borlaise Warren (Lincoln Green), A Room with a Brew (Scribbler’s Ales), The Barrel Drop (micro pub), The Lord Roberts (Flipside), The Peacock and The Lincolnshire Poacher.  We found a very good selection of beers and particularly enjoyed visiting Room with a Brew and Lord Roberts for the first time on an AV CAMRA trip.

On Saturday 7th January, Anne arranged an Amber Ramble and 14 members set off from Codnor across fields to Langley Mill, then back to Heanor, Codnor and Peasehill.  They visited several micro pubs along the way – the Bunny Hop, Angry Bee and Redemption – and also the Poet and Castle where we understand there was a management change again in December

The first free minibus survey trip of the year will be on Friday 3rd February and, at the time of writing, there are three spaces still available.  The next trip will be on Friday 3rd March.  A list of dates for the year, including two walking trips on Bank Holiday Mondays in May and August, is available on our website.  The original date for July of Friday 7th has been changed to Friday 14th as it clashed with Derby Summer Beer Festival.
