Social Secretary Report – January 2016
Beer Survey Trips
The next survey trip will be on Saturday 13th February 2016 and is already fully subscribed. All dates for 2016 survey trips have been circulated separately. Neil Barratt has confirmed that he can still provide a mini bus and driver for each trip. An email will be sent out at the start of each month advertising the trips then places will be filled on a first come, first served basis. They will also continue to be advertised on our website and in Derby Drinker, Nottingham Drinker, RuRAD newsletter, What’s Brewing etc.
As the walk around Ripley town centre pubs was successful last August Bank Holiday Monday, I propose to do the same this year as it’s difficult to fit them into the bus trips and also too busy in the pubs on a Saturday night.
We didn’t have time to include a survey trip to the pubs in Shottle and Turnditch last year so I hope to arrange an afternoon trip sometime during the summer to catch a bus from Belper to The Tiger which is the furthest away pub in our area, then walk back to Belper calling at the others en route (approx. 5 miles).
18 members joined the trip to Nottingham on Saturday 16th January to visit some of the City’s best pubs, starting at The Organ Grinder where Chris Rogers presented the Blue Monkey brewery with a certificate for their Chocolate Amaretto Guerilla Stout winning the “Beer of the Festival” last September.
Anne Kennedy is planning an Amber Ramble on Sunday 21st February and will be circulating details in due course.
If any members would like to organise any other social events for the branch during the year please contact me and I will be pleased to help you to advertise the event and include it in the branch calendar.
