Social Secretary Report – February 2018

14 members joined the first beer survey trip of the year.  We met in the Miner’s Arms, Alfreton then went on to the King Alfred and What’s your Poison on opposite sides of High Street, splitting into two groups in case the micro pub was too small to accommodate the whole party at once.  We then travelled to Riddings to visit the Seven Stars and Moulders Arms and finished off at the Steampacket Inn, Swanwick.  We were all very impressed with the beer and atmosphere in “What’s your Poison” and the Seven Stars, under new management, seemed very popular with the locals and was friendly with good beer.

The following beers were noted –

Miner’s Arms – Marstons Pedigree, Miner’s Ale, Exmoor Mild

King Alfred – Castle Rock Flanker, Pentrich Soma, Blue Monkey 99 Red Babboons, Marston’s Draught Bass, Sharp’s Doombar

What’s your poison – Oakham Inferno, Castle Rock Preservation and Elsie Moe, Bottle Brook Mellow Yellow, Adnams Ghost Ship, St Austell Tribute

Seven Stars – Sharp’s Doombar, Greene King Abbot Ale, Pentrich Kiama

Moulders Arms – Magpie Jay IPA, Dukeries Czech This Out and Lord Furnival, Hancock’s HB

Steampacket Inn – Pentrich 1817, Marston’s Draught Bass, Castle Rock Wheat Session IPA, Titanic Magnum IPA, Peak Ales IPA, Matlock Wold Porter
