Social Secretary Report – April 2016
Beer Survey Trip
15 members joined the minibus survey trip on Saturday 9th April 2016 including two first-timers. After picking up in Belper and Ripley, we met the rest of the group in The Cross Keys at Swanwick then drove out to the White Hart at Moorwood Moor, South Wingfield Social Club, the Yew Tree and the Bluebell then back to the Steampacket at Swanwick to finish. Although the Social Club was busy with a live band playing, the Steward was concerned about its future as its generally not getting enough custom to be viable.
The following beers were noted:-
Cross Keys – Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, Marstons Pedigree
White Hart – Sharp’s Atlantic and Doombar, Dartmoor Jail Ale, Timothy Taylor Le Champion
Social Club – Sharp’s Doombar
Yew Tree – St Austell Proper Job, Marston’s Draught Bass
Bluebell – Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, Brampton Star of India IPA, Exmoor Gold, Great Orme Orme
Steampacket – Shepherd Neame Spitfire, Nottingham Dreadnought, Adnams Broadside, Newark NPA, Thornbridge Lord Marples, Driftwood Spar Bawden Rocks + various ciders
The next free minibus survey trip will be held on Saturday 14th May. Seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Anne Kennedy led an Amber Ramble on Sunday 3rd April. 13 people joined the walk and enjoyed a sunny afternoon route from the Queens Head at Little Eaton to the Old Oak at Horsley Woodhouse via the Wheel and Dead Poets at Holbrook and the Hunters at Kilburn.
