Social Secretary Report – April 2015

Beer Survey Trips

16 members went on the survey trip on Saturday 11th April.  We visited the Waggon and Horses, Alfreton, the Cross Keys, Swanwick, the Red Lion and Greenhill Tavern at Riddings, the Poet & Castle, Codnor and the Talbot Taphouse, Ripley.

 

The following beers were noted –

Waggon & Horses – Greene King Abbot Ale, Ruddles County, Sharps Doom Bar, Springhead Roaring Meg, Lincoln Green Tuck Porter, Caledonian “Nogne” (a collaboration Asian Pale Ale) (+ Black Jack & Apples & Pears real ciders/perries)

Cross Keys – Greene King Old Speckled Hen, Thwaites Lancaster Bomber (no real cider)

Red Lion – Navigation Arctic Blast, Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold, Sharp’s Doom Bar (no real cider)

Greenhill Tavern – Marston’s Draught Bass, Falstaff Fistful of Hops (+ Family Reserve cider)

Poet & Castle – Ashover Light Rail Ale and Poet’s Tipple, Everards Original, Oakham Inferno. Whim Hartington IPA, Liverpool Organic Stout, Batemans XXXB (+ 4 real ciders/perries)

Talbot Taphouse – Milestone IPA + Amber Ales Barnes Wallis, Derbyshire Gold, Dambuster, Original Stout, Imperial IPA, Oak Aged Ruby (Shaky Bridge, Panking Pole & other real ciders/perries)

 

The next survey trip will be on Saturday 16th May and it is already fully subscribed.

 

Amber Rambles

Jock and Donna led 9 walkers a ramble on Sunday 19th April taking in pubs in Ripley, Codnor and Riddings.  The weather was fine and everyone enjoyed the day.

 

Presentation Night – on Thursday 21st May we will be visiting the Old Oak, Horsley Woodhouse, the Black Bull’s Head, Openwoodgate and the Holly Bush, Makeney to present them with their Pub of the Year certificates.  All members are welcome to join us.  Times will be confirmed nearer the date.
